I had the pleasure of being invited to a private pre-opening event at a new venue called "Quest" in Taipei on Friday the 22nd of August. The vibe? Listening Room Nostalgia. The headliner? Zen-La-Rock from Japan. Not only was the secretive, hidden pathway to the venue alluring, but upon arrival, one is asked to take their shoes off. An outfit ruining disaster? Anything but. The feeling of your bare feet on the plush carpet as a premium vintage sound system vibrated through your body was a sensation straight out of the 1980's. The crowd was small, like the venue, full of keen music lovers who all leaned over in anticipation to try and see what Zen would choose from his stack next. Mixing classic funk, nostalgic recognizable, singable tunes with rare and lovingly shared Japanese gems, Zen often got on the mic to address his audience/fans/listeners about happiness, love, music, and shared his joy about being back in Taiwan after so many years.

I was just happy to be invited to Zen's magical musical quest.
